“At Christmas, you ask for a contribution towards a camera!”

Such were (more or less) the words my mother said to me in December 2015, after hearing me talk about photography for the umpteenth time. I now consider this phrase to be the trigger for one of the most important turning points in my life. Although I had always been drawn to art in almost all its forms, I had never consciously acknowledged this particular interest in photography; yet this suggestion seemed obvious to me as soon as it was made.

I obviously did not yet realise that this interest would transform into a passion. Through photography, I found a way to let my creativity speak, to express things I cannot articulate in words, but above all to experience a degree of freedom I had never felt before.
